Customize survey colors, headers and progress

Combine a layout with a theme, set your own colors, upload brand images and choose a progress position that works on phones and embeds.

Choose structure before colors

The Design tab has three parts, in the order you decide them. Layout is the shape of the page: the template, the display mode, the header, progress and the reading width. Style is the paint: a look to start from, your colors, the page background, the type and the question cards. Brand is who is asking: your logo and name, the words on every page, your links and the Plumeform badge. Start with the layout that suits your questionnaire, then try looks against real questions, answer choices and long text.

Free includes the Classic layout and default look. Additional layouts and custom branding, including your colors, logo and name, are Pro publishing features. You can try them in the builder and preview before choosing a plan; classic and conversational display modes are available on all plans.

Set custom colors

In Design → Style, set your brand color first: selected answers, buttons and progress follow it. Like the rest of a custom look, it needs Pro to publish; you can set it and preview it on Free. Under Fine-tune color roles you can set headings, body and supporting text, buttons, the card, inputs, progress and the secondary color one by one. Reset an individual role to let the template choose it. Choosing a different look replaces your colors, page, font, corners and question card, and offers an undo.

Text and progress colors adjust when a chosen combination would be hard to read. Preview the full survey after a change: question cards, image backgrounds and sticky controls can put text on different surfaces. Check selected and unselected answers as well as headings.

Add your brand

In Design → Brand, add your logo and name, then a tagline and a website link for the header. The link opens in a new tab so a respondent can keep their place. The header's layout (Inline, Centered or Floating), or turning it off, is under Layout. Check long company names on a phone and leave clear space around artwork in the uploaded logo itself. All of these need Pro to publish, and uploading a logo needs Pro; on Free you can paste the address of a logo you host and preview the result.

Choose the question-card material, under Style, for the background you use. A photograph needs enough separation behind the question text; a Frosted card that looks good over an empty corner may be unreadable over the main subject.

Place progress where people can see it

In Design → Layout, keep the template’s default or move progress to the top, bottom or right side. Side progress moves to the bottom on phones and narrow embeds. You can also hide progress.

Preview at phone width and inside the intended embed container. Check that the brand header, progress and navigation leave enough room for an answer. For a long questionnaire, test with the keyboard open and with questions containing several lines of text.
