Build
Set up and test survey branching
Choose between page jumps, question visibility and screen-outs. Build a rule, test both paths, and fix unexpected skips before publishing.
Choose the action that matches the job
Use a page jump when an answer should skip a whole section. Use Show question or Hide question when only one follow-up depends on an answer. End survey counts as a normal completion; Screen out is a separate eligibility ending with its own message, panel code and redirect.
Page jumps and normal endings are available on Free. Publishing question visibility, screen-outs or answer piping requires Pro. You can build and preview those rules before upgrading.
Example: skip a follow-up for recent users
Create three pages: eligibility, returning-user follow-up, and product feedback. Put the question about last use on eligibility. Keep the destination after the question that supplies the answer.
- 1Open the builder’s Logic tab and add a rule.
- 2Choose the last-use question, an equals condition, and the answer In the last month.
- 3Choose Jump to page and select product feedback.
- 4Leave the returning-user follow-up in the normal page order. Answers that do not match the rule will reach it.
Add conditions and personal wording
Use all when every condition must match, and any when one match is enough. Conditions can also check the experiment arm or running quiz score. A show rule keeps its target hidden until the condition matches; a hide rule removes its target while the condition matches.
Use the question editor’s piping picker to insert an earlier answer into later wording. Put the source question before the text that uses it. An optional or skipped source can leave the inserted text empty, so read the sentence on that path too.
Test the paths before you publish
Preview one case for every answer that changes the route, plus a case that matches no rule. Check required questions, the ending message, and the path after a respondent changes an earlier answer. Use test mode for a published pilot when you want pilot rows kept out of normal results.
- 1If a page disappears unexpectedly, inspect every rule that can run at that page turn, including broad any conditions.
- 2If a follow-up never appears, check that its source answer exists before the question is shown.
- 3If publish reports a Pro feature, check the action as well as the condition; changing a screen-out to a normal ending changes how participation is recorded.
